SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

  • Two sets of gates are locked at night for extra safety. We always recommend that you lock your room at all times, as well as your car, bicycle or other property that may be with you during your stay. Do not leave valuables in your room or unattended at any time.
  • Video surveillance covers exterior areas of the property at all times.
  • We have two dogs. If you would prefer not to meet them, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. If you are allergic to dogs or don't like dogs, then Villa Lobos is not for you (we can recommend other nearby lodges).
  • If you have any specific safety concerns, please advise us in advance and we will do our best to guide you and make sure that you feel safe at Villa Lobos.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENT

  • We purchase food and supplies from local merchants as much as possible. We do not use pre-packaged foodservice food.
  • We recycle almost everything, and we ask you to help us by putting your recyclable waste in the designated area. You can put your non-recyclable waste in the designated bags in the same area.
  • Guest rooms have a small waste bin in the bathroom for anything you might want to put down the toilet. Please do NOT put anything other than #1, #2 and toilet paper in the toilet. We use a septic system, which is a very sensitive and expensive system to maintain. If you put something bad down the toilet, you add to the maintenance costs, which drives up the room rates for all guests.
  • The wastewater from our septic tank is treated and used to water parts of the garden, thereby reducing overall water consumption at the Villa. We are currently experiencing a 33% savings on water consumption over last year before the water deposit was installed. Our region gets almost no rain and is in perpetual drought. Water is a premium commodity. Please keep this in mind when showering.
  • We offer no disposable cutlery of any kind (although we do offer paper napkins/serviettes) on request. Otherwise, cloth napkins/serviettes are used at breakfast.
